#UnrestSA hotspots

In the past week, South Africa has been ravaged by violence, looting and riots following the arrest of former president Jacob Zuma. What started as a destructive objection to his arrest quickly turned into opportunistic incidents of violence, mainly centered in KwaZulu-Natal and Gauteng. To get a sense of the extent of the damage, News24 has compiled a map of "hotspots" depicting the location of each attack and a description of what took place. Each location has been confirmed by sources, including the Institute for Security Studies, our own reporters on the ground, and other reputable media reports.

Use the map zoom tool on the left to zoom in and view more detail. Mouse over or click on the icons to see the info. On mobile devices, you can pinch to zoom in and out.
